Landowner Response to National Monument Proposal

PRESS RELEASE:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
FROM THE MOFFAT COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MOFFAT COUNTY LAND USE SURVEY

Survey Recipients,

The Moffat County Commissioners request each recipient of this survey take a few minutes to fill out and return it. This survey is a crucial step in gathering citizen input related to planning issues affecting the future of Moffat County. If you have feelings about an issue addressed in the survey, but the survey did not address them, please write a note in the margin and return the survey. We appreciate you spending the time to complete this survey.

The first questionnaire focuses on general planning issues affecting the future of Moffat County, while the second questionnaire addresses, specifically, land use planning issues affecting the future of Moffat County. Both surveys are one step in providing you an opportunity to shape the future of Moffat County. The survey is sponsored by Colorado State University, University of Wyoming, and Moffat County. There are significant issues arising from urban sprawl, land fragmentation, reduced viability of agriculture and industry, private property rights, endangered species regulations, land management issues, and water quality and quantity within Moffat County.

This survey specifically addresses issues within the above mentioned areas, as well as other issues relevant to Moffat County planning efforts. This survey is COMPLETLEY CONFIDENTIAL and no one will ever know how you responded to questions in the survey, unless you share your response with others. The number on your survey is ONLY used to identify households which did not complete the survey, so follow-up reminders can be sent. The number on your survey CANNOT and WILLNOT be used for any other tracking purpose. This survey is one piece of information, in addition to several public hearings, tours, formal testimony, and community college presentations, which have been conducted to assist Moffat County in addressing planning efforts. Before any update or changes to Moffat County plans are made, substantial public input will be requested. This survey in no way will be used to solely draft a planning document. Many opportunities will be given to citizens to review planning documents before they are adopted by the Moffat County Commission.

In addition, results of this survey will provide a portion of the information to write specific legislation, to be proposed to the U. S. Congress, addressing concerns about wilderness area proposals in Moffat County, which have been proposed by special interest groups.

As you can see, this survey is very important to land use planning within Moffat County, and the Moffat County Commissioners would appreciate any comments you can provide by completing this survey. Your role in this phase of the larger planning process is a greatly appreciated.
